The progressive layering of media allows the filter to flow at high levels even when dirty. The VORTEX non-oiled synthetic air filter requires no oils for cleaning for maximum convenience. The VORTEX air filter media consists of an inner and outer layer of wire mesh for durable support of filtration media as well as overall filter durability. This filter construction will not deform or collapse under high air flow. The inner filter media consists of two distinct layers of specifically designed synthetic materials that have separate performance characteristics designed to work together for a combined function of outstanding air flow (low restriction) and exceptionally high filtration. Contaminants are first captured by the outer layer of synthetic needle felt polyester material designed for wet and dry filtration with high air flow capacity. The inner layer of (wet-laid / chemical bonded) (rayon / polyester) captures any remaining contaminants while maintaining high air flow and low restriction. Each separate layer of these high tech materials are designed to work together for the highest level of air flow performance and filtration with exceptional durability. Depending on driving and environmental conditions; the filter will become caked with dirt and require cleaning. It is recommended to clean the filter on your VORTEX Intake at least two times a year. Replacement filters are available through VORTEX-PERORMANCE.COM website. Also, if you experience a sudden decrease in mileage or engine performance, the filter will need to be cleaned. QUICK CLEANING: Vacuum debris from the surface of the filter. Remove the filter from your air intake and tap it on a hard surface to remove any loose dirt. DO NOT OIL! Oiling your Dry filter will ruin its effectiveness and require immediate replacement. DEEP CLEANING: Vacuum free debris from the surface of the filter. Remove the filter from your air intake and tap it on a hard surface to remove any loose dirt. Liberally spray the filter with filter cleaner and allow it to soak in for about 10 minutes. Avoid petroleum based products because they will soften and destroy sealing edges. Rinse off the dirt from the inside of the filter. Never use high pressure nozzles or air; they could tear and distort the cotton gauze media. Allow the filter to air dry in a clean area. Never use applied heat or an air vent to dry the filter. Do NOT reinstall a wet or damp filter. The filter must be completely dry before it is installed.
